The Wait and The Opportunities

The three-months wait for Soom shipping my girls (or rather, my girl and my thing) is killing me. I wish I could go into hibernation and wake up in spring, when they are here already!

Well at least I have some time to prepare and I can conveniently spread finances.
As Yrie (who shall be named Lilitu) will assume both male and female roles, as well as simply being a Super-Deformed version of Galena (named Lilith), I needed some wigs for it. As I was ordering it, I didn't really like the default wig Yrie was coming with, so I swapped it for annother soom 6-6.5 inch wig (which I believe to be the one added to Beyla):

This was the best I could come up from Sooms offer, but it had the bangs... and I hate bangs! (as for a side note, I am so happy Galena's default wig doesn't have 'em...) Also, it was nowhere near Galena's wig, as it came out later on, so I needed something else.

I ended up ordering 3 wigs from For My Doll.
Loneliness in 144 is supposed to be the SD Galena's wig's version. Not a perfect match but I don't think I'll ever find one... EVERYTHING seems to have bangs recently! So frustrating. I've seen some nice bangless wigs on Leeke but of course they are long sold out.

High Layard (wth does this mean?!) in 22 will be a boy-wig for Yrie. Sad part here is that it's almost the default Soom wig for the Birdies :/ Should have foreseen this earlier to be honest.

An I couldn't walk past The Innocent Girl - wigs of those type are imporrible to find. I took it in nice 110 (I'll call it Wine) for Galena because I love the color and she already has a blond wig. Blame FMD for the quality of the pictures!

Before My Sweets get here I also need to buy a 30inch (70cm) carriage bags. I found quite a few companies that make 'em (unfortunately, Soom seems to always be out >.>) and I decided to make my final decision based on other items I would buy along. And yesterday it (unfortunately) struck me...

There are two outfits in otherwise cheap Dollmore store that stand out with price; before yesterday I looked at them without approval as they seemed only those cheap, Asian imitations like the rest of Dollmore store... it's cheap, but the quality isn't outstanding: you get what you pay for, or at least never more!
But yesterday, I've seen them in a totally new light, shed upon them by the wonderful figure of Galena...

The outfits I have on mind are two (for Model Doll and for Super Dollfie size) dresses that seem to be based on ancient Korean court dresses, red for MD and black for SD. They - or at least the MD one - seem to be so etheric and giving the doll wearing them a divine look that when I pictured them on my Bird Girl, I got swooned away and I can't stop thinking about them.

And 'them' is the problem because each of them costs around $150 so together they would cost almost as much as a whole doll... So I am trying my best to kick one of them out of my head.

Oriental Onyx Dress Set for SD by Dollmore
When I was looking at it before, it seemed the more "decent" one of the too; probably because I don't like pink while I loooove lack and because black usually seems more stylish. I am not so sure anymore though...

Celestial Dress Set for MD
I used to regard this one as a more kitsch one of the two. The pinks and reds... I was totally unable to picture my future doll in this outfit, but now it's growing on me with every passing hour and becoming almost irresistible..! Maybe it's the posing of the doll and the dress (because those outfits defenetly need posing!), maybe the fact that this color set is more 'natural'...
The longer I think about it, the more I want this one and the less I need the Onyx one. I will wait and see 'till Soom releases their next MD to see if there's going to be something to my liking and probably go for it.

Oh My Goddess

I can't really describe how impatiently I was waiting for November MD: after all, I was having high hopes for Galena for months now, only fueled up with Yrie in whom I fell in love totally.

When the first teaser of Galena went up, I was mortified. She was grey..!
I bought Yrie only because I planned her to be a Super-Deformed version of my future Galena, so the difference in skin color would crush my plans.
But I nevertheless tried to cheer myself up with a thought that Soom did, after all, offer a skin color option with a previous MD (Sphaler), so maybe - just maybe - they would do so again.

After few days she went up for sale, with complete set of pictures.
As I was scrolling down (painfully slowly, because my traffic with the site was incredibly low), I got more and more disheartened with the grey version. But than... Cream White Galena looked at me from the first en-face photo and I got crushed. And the profile shot totally killed me.
I ordered her and payed her in full in a matter of minutes. Which was, truth be told, not the best thing I've ever done. If I waited for few days, I would have recieved my salary and would be able to order more extras with her. Silly me.

And the winner is...

Actually, partial winner.
While my thoughts were concentrated on dollfing, somehow in my imaginary resin world another being spawned and demanded to be materialized in resin.
I simply couldn't imagine myself with just one doll anymore, I _needed_ a second one.
And to my surprise, I needed a tinnie - type of bjd I was never much interested in! But still, this tinnie seemed to fill up any empty gaps around the Main One.

And than, October MD Tinnies came, Alk and Yrie: Birdie Windies.

To think that they will be the super-deformes of Galeana - whom I'm planning to buy, if I like her - made them irresistible for me.
Well, her as I am now happily expecting Yrie.

The Search

I did find a few models during my search that I've seriously considered. None made an impression nearly as strong as Soom MD, but they do deserve a honorable mention.

Dream of Doll Shall

Shall has caught my attention a few times before. Even though her face mold is quite mangish imho, I find her sweet, cute and mature enough to match my expectations. And, vain as I am, I believe we bear some resamblence to each other.

Iplehouse Jessica

Most naturally and sexy looking bjd out there.
It's extremely hard to find a trully life-looking bjd as they tend to be extra-heavy influenced by manga aesthetics and hence extremly, extremly skinny. Fortunately, Iplehouse created a line E.I.D. where both female and male models look very life-like. Still idealized to extremes, but like real human beings.
And her cleavage...

Dollmore Amelia Lecc

I genuinely love her face mold, she resembles the ideal of a vampire I have in my head and seems to be a materialization of my beloved WoD vampire character, a Cappadocian Macrina whom I've always imagined with HER face exactly!

Iplehouse Luna the Tamer

Iplehouse released this limited doll belonging to their Noctarana Circus collection when I've already decided on a Soom and this particular doll was THIS close from changing my plans. "Why" shouldn't really be a question - she's a kitty and I'm a sucker for kitties. But I wasn't too fond of any of her face molds: human one wasn't in my taste, cat one seemed too cartoon-stylized as well. I loved her body, I admired her claw-hands, but paw-feet also didn't drop my jaw to the floor... not after Soom Chrom's paws (which are precisely what I want for my future kitty! on a side note, if Soom decided to let out a grey-skinned kitty-girl, I won't be able to say no... neither for a boy... this scares the shit out of me and my wallet!).
I had A LOT deliberation over Luna, but in the end I've decided that it's not enough for a doll to meet the principles of my wishes but she has to do it in a way that truly satisfies me.

The Early History

I saw my first BJD on DeviantArt quite a few years ago: about 6 or 7 to be more exact.
I'm pretty sure it was a Volks dollfie, probably MSD, in blond curly wig, white gothic lolita dress...
I instantly became mesmerized and spent next few weeks browsing through Volks site, and than other BJD shops, looking for a doll for me.

But I couldn't find any. Weeks had passed, and no doll I've seen made me think "This is the one!". Compared with the rather high price and lack of PayPal aviability in Poland at the time.
I was not sure what I wanted at the time, but all the molds seemed too manga or too asian or both for my taste... I turned to fashion dolls for a bit and managed to get myself a Tyler Wentworth doll, but she wasn't the on either. An old body sculpt, she was as stiff as a Barbie, just bigger and a bit higher quality

I forgot about dolls and got sucked up into mmorpg hobby.
Time passed, my Tyler's box gained layers of dust...

...until this month, when - again on DA - I saw The One.
Her face, while still a bit manga, was natural and lifelike, with a strange pouting look. I tought she looked succubic (and I have a thing for those demons) and I read the description looking for the name of the doll.

SOOM Beryl. Google. Soom site.
Lightning strike.

Beryl was the one. She not only had the most perfect, pouty face, she also had horns and hooved legs like a true succubus would. I was sold.
But I could not buy her as she was a limited edition from a previous year.

I browsed SOOMs site and totally fell in love with their dolls. The molds were just the thing I was always looking for, and MD dolls all had a fantasy twist to them I realised I was craving.

Their price startled me at first. I was not sure if I was ready to pay this much for a doll. I started looking again, hoping I would find annother brand, maybe less expensive... but to no vain. No other doll appealed to me nearly as Sooms. So I've decided one is coming home. A Super Gem female, defenetly with a fantasy twist.

Now, to patently wait for the next right MD... which will not be earlier than November this year looking as Sooms current schedule (a pair of Teenies followed by a Super Gem and next SG is a male...).

Patience, young padawan!
